Fuel cards and VAT – when is tax deductible?

Although fuel cards are used by a large proportion of entrepreneurs who operate vehicles in their day-to-day work, the question of the right to deduct VAT still raises considerable doubts. Successive judgments and individual interpretations have not resolved the issue and have even raised questions and doubts. The difficult situation was supposed to be resolved by a general interpretation issued by the Ministry of Finance in 2021. Therefore, we decided to analyse the topic and check if and when VAT can be deducted on fuel card purchases.
